To reinforce and reclaim our sovereignty means to radically guard and use our energy effectively and efficiently. When one experiences something manifesting in their life, we are reminded that the potency of our being is an energetic match to the reality we have created.
Allowing ourselves to truly become still and cultivate a practice of weeding out and tending to what is working is the job of a gardener whose main objective is to obtain a harvest, support and sustain new growth, and allow the cycle to continue.
After the long winter, when everything dies back and we are held in the womb of Gaia, there is an impulse, a spark, a call to new growth. At first, it may be a whisper—perhaps a thunderous awakening—but either way, change is afoot and destined.
In these early phases of spring, it is not yet our job to act but rather to tend to our consciousness and filter out that which does not serve us ; by withholding energy from that which hinders or holds us back.
In a world of noise and destruction, we find ourselves in constant need of slowing down, detoxing, and realigning. This replenishes our soul and returns us to ourselves. From here, we notice what energy is stirring within us.
Look to nature after winter—that first phase where winter still holds on, the ground remains cold, and winds persist. Yet, beneath the earth, life is stirring. New, strong shoots begin to emerge. We may not see much yet, but a great deal is happening underground. We, too, experience this in the beginning of a new cycle. The stillness and rest of winter prepare us not to seek but to allow the gentle unfurling and unfolding of energies within us.
What is stirring within you? What new energy calls to you? You need to become still, for what you seek is not outside of yourself but deep within. Here lies the foundation of our next creation. We are not tearing down at this phase—we are beginning to build. And the stronger the foundation, the higher we can rise.
Have you ever noticed how, at a building site, it seems to take forever before anything visible happens—then, suddenly, the structure shoots up? Did you know that bamboo can take up to five years to develop its underground network of roots and then grow six feet in just nine months? We, too, can follow this pattern in our quest and create something tangible if we harness our energies.
We often overlook this stage—the unseen stage, the building of foundations. Without strong foundations, we may later wonder why the projects we started failed. This phase of early spring is vital to the health of the entire cycle. It is a time of deep inner cultivation, where we learn to let go and surrender to life’s plan.
At this junction, it can be tempting to abandon our practices and push ahead, driven by ego and desire, losing our connection to a greater creator. Of course, things may be happening—ideas landing, opportunities arising—but we need to move slowly, considerately, and with a conscious harnessing of the life force energy that is beginning to build within us.
This is a time for sampling, pondering, and noticing what is truly asking to be laid as the next foundation. This phase can feel like one step forward and two steps back. Impatience and frustration may arise as we reach the edges of our capacity to trust the process. Yet, this time is crucial to our success in the next chapter. The work we do now will literally determine our future.
The seasons mirror to us the right balance at every stage. Autumn and winter embody yin energies—surrender, receptivity, letting go, and allowing—while spring and summer hold the energies of yang—action, movement, creation, building, and orchestration. Right now, we are in a phase that is primarily yin, with some yang beginning to emerge.
Be like nature. Find your inner balance by contemplating the seasons and mirroring them in your being. We are nature, and it is our greatest guide and teacher, helping us align with the natural energies within us.
As we resource and connect to something larger than ourselves, we begin to build from a place that is sustainable, fulfilling, and rewarding.
May you be like early spring. May the energies stirring deep within you be the beginning of a beautiful creation.
